Our Spanish Courses

Básico

If you are starting from scratch, levels 1 and 2 provide your basic Spanish language survival kit, with words and phrases you can start using right away. You’ll learn the essential sounds of Spanish, and tips on the process of learning a language.

Inicial

At levels 3 and 4, you’ll begin to experiment with language patterns, using your own initiative to express yourself and apply what you learn to everyday situations. You should start feeling more confident and independent in using the language.

Elemental

At levels 5 and 6 you should be feeling independent enough to practice your language skills outside the classroom. You’ll want to start expressing yourself in the past and future tenses, and this course provides precisely the language tools you need.

Pre-intermedio

By the time you complete levels 7 and 8, you should be feeling so confident about your Spanish language, expression vocabulary and grammar that you can start to chat about everyday topics and issues.

Intermedio Bajo

At levels 9 and 10 you’ll feel increasingly confident about engaging in discussions, debates or disagreements, armed with an expanding range of topics and vocabulary. You’ll be using language more spontaneously and naturally.

Intermedio Medio

By the end of levels 11-12 you’ll find yourself expressing ideas using both abstract and more specific language. You can now choose more subtle ways of expressing an idea by using more precise expressions and colloquial language. Classes become more student-centered, shaped by what you want to talk about.

Intermedio Alto

By now, after doing levels 13-14 you should be enjoying your growing ability to explore and analize ideas in less structured, even more student-led classes. Perfectionists can resolve doubts, gain clarity and deepen their knowledge. You should be confident enough to tackle whole novels in Spanish.

Cursos Avanzados

The advanced course consists of six levels - Levels 15-20. Each course lasts 20 classes of 90 minutes and is normally taught once a week. The aim of these courses is to perfect an already quite high level of the Spanish language and they are a natural continuation of Level 14 (Intermedio Alto)

“As a retired university lecturer, I expect a teacher to engage and inspire the student to learn. Eduardo provides excellent study materials and incorporates visual, audio and the use of play to encourage the student. Everything is explained clearly, and I would highly recommend Eduardo as an excellent teacher and enabler.”

— Tanya Grenfell-Williams (Level 14)

“I have had the pleasure of studying with Eduardo over the course of several years, and have found his instruction to be invaluable. He is very knowlegeable over a myriad of topics, and particularly well-versed in history, geo-politics, and cultural nuances of the Spanish speaking world. He is a curious and engaging conversationalist. He has never failed to address complicated and challenging concepts in the clearest of terms, either by leading the student through a series of lively, comprehensive texts he has authored, or patiently elaborating on the countless challenges and questions a student may encounter. As someone with a keen interest in linguistics who has studied language extensively himself, he is encouraging and empathetic to the inherent sensitivities and struggles of the student. He is interesting and entertaining while thoroughly covering the basic components of the language and the communication skills one needs. Perhaps more importantly, he will inspire fluency through compelling conversation, shared fun and new insights into this beautiful language. I highly recommend his courses.
